Fifth Week
Hellooo!
I’m doing great! I’m so happy with my family and the fact that I live in AMERICA!! I’m not homesick at all, and I really like that. I don't know if I will be homesick at all, because normally I’m not really that homesick, but I never have been far away from home for longer then 2 months. I’m curious if I will be that homesick. But we will see, I will keep you updated of course.
My week was a nice week with fun moments with the family and friends. We did a lot of fun days this week. The weather was still very nice so we went outside a lot, we played at the playgrounds in the area with our friends (the big family) and explored a new big playground not a long drive form our home. They made new friends at the big playground. I really like it to see how kids just play with each other, it doesn't matter what or who you are. We also draw Halloween things on the driveway with chalk and painted a drawing. We colored our nails and Ainsley showed her American Girl dolls and everything that came with it, like clothes, a school, health care.
This week I also ate my first pumpkin pie/bar. It was delicious! Really good, I love the pumpkin taste in everything. They also put the pumpkin taste in EVERYTHING! And I love it! They put it in drinks, food, cakes, anything.
My love for the Fall is getting worse. The trees are losing their leaves and the leaves are changing in such beautiful colors. The weather is also still really good. In The Netherlands it is only raining right now, like always. So I’m really happy with the weather here. :)
Evenings
I’m not only trying to do something during the weekends, but I’m also planing to do fun stuff during the week in the evening. This week I did some fun things during the week! On Wednesday I went Halloween shopping with Valerie. I wanted to decorate my room for Halloween. There weren't that much stores with a lot of Halloween things anymore, what was weird because Halloween is over a few weeks. It is not that Halloween is already over. But I still find some things that I really like. I also find a costume for Ainsley, because she really wants to be Hermione, from Harry Potter for Halloween. She was really happy when she found the costume the day after I got it.
On Thursday evening I had an other 'meeting' with my LCC group. It was really fun to see al the girls again and I also have met a few new girls. We went to Tutti Frutti, but it was really cold outside so a lot of the girls didn't even ate the frozen yogurt. We sat outside on some benches and talked a lot.
Friday night Emmett had his first soccer game! It wasn't a real game with points, but I was a game for fun. It was so cute to see al the little kids playing soccer. They played against 2 different teams.
Weekend
Saturday was a day that I should meet new girls. This week I posted a post in a Facebook group for au pairs in the area of Maryland and DC. A lot of girls reacted on that post so I have a list of girls I want to meet haha. Saturday at 1pm I have met a girl that I know from Instagram, I saw her profile one day and send her a message. We were planning to meet each other for a few weeks now, and today was finally the day that we met. We met at Starbucks in Rockville and had a really fun day. We talked the hole time and we also went for a walk at the Rock Creek Regional Park. I really had fun with her and I would love to meet her again.
In the evening I met an other girl that I knew from the Facebook group. It was her birthday today and I didn't want her to feel alone for her birthday. We went to Clarksburg and had something to eat at a restaurant. I was a little bit awkward between us, because I had trouble understanding het because her English wasn't that good. She was very nice but we didn't had a really good klik.
Sunday would be a really cool day! Today I’m going to visit a new state. We are going to Pennsylvania! I went there with Salsabi, a French girl from my au pair group. This week I was thinking that I wanted to visit some more big places in the area, so I found Philadelphia! We left at 9am and drove 2 hours to Philadelphia. It was a beautiful drive, with a beautiful view. We talked a lot and had a really fun time. We visit all the famous things in Philadelphia, like the Liberty Bell, the Rocky Steps, LOVE park, the Second Bank of the United States and the Independence Hall. I personally didn't thought that Philadelphia was that beautiful, but it was nice! It has pretty things but also some dirty parts. We drove everywhere and it was nice that you could park your car at a place where it was free to stay for 2 or 4 hours.
I had to be back at 6pm, because Leah and Ryan had a date night, so I had to watch the kids. We left Philadelphia at 3.30pm. We really had a fun time! Just a new State on my list!
That was my week already!
Ohh yeah, about my 'fancy' lunch. I did it for a day or two... But not that much. I made a smoothiebowl and they liked it! Sometimes it was just easier to make a quick lunch for the kids or make something they want/like. I will try to keep it up a bit and just make something special every now and then, so it stays a fun.
Thank you for reading!
Love,
Naomi
