Ninth week
Hi hi!
If you thought that Halloween was already over, no way! This weekend I still did something with Halloween. What I did you read in here! This week was crazy with the Election and stuff, but we also did fun stuff!
Kids
Tuesday and Wednesday the kids had days off at school, Tuesday because of Election Day and Wednesday they just had a day off. And of course I did something cool with the kids this week! Tuesday I took them to the Zoo in DC. It was really fun, but because of Covid they closed some parts of the zoo. We still saw many animals and it was fun. We even had ice cream! :) Wednesday I took them for a hike and we been to a really cool playground. Maybe you can remember the Rock Creek Regional Park from reading my blogs, because I been here a lot. We kinda did the same as last time I took them there. We had lunch there at a picknick tabel and walked for a little bit. Then we went to a playground near by the park. The kids had fun and it was a beautiful day! This week the weather was great again! Better then last week, I think it is so funny that the weather change so fast and so much. But I like it, because I love the warm weather! We also started to make a schedule for the kids to see if that will help their behavior and to give them more structure. I’m not sure yet if the schedule helps, because sometimes they started to argue about the schedule and then that became the problem. So we will see for next week.
The rest for the week we played a lot outside, played games and drew. We also 'discovered' the house of a really good friend of Ainsley's and of course they wanted to play with them all week, so we kinda did. Friday after school we went there again and I started talking with the parents and we ended up talking about sports and everything, it was really nice. I also taught their kid to play volleyball and she liked it!
Election Day (or week)
I got a lot of question about the election from my family and friends back home. I really thought it was a good thing and interesting that I was here during the elections. It was cool to see how everything goes and how it is for the American people to be in the elections. The last month I saw many signs from Biden and Trump in backyard from people. It really depends on were you were what kind of signs you saw. Like in Maryland you found most of the time signs from Biden, but if you drove to Pennsylvania or Virginia then you saw more signs from Trump to.
Tuesday evening it all begon... We all were watching the news and the only thing you could see on the news or in social media was The Election. We all waited and were nervous about the results. It took forever that night, we ended up going to bed at 1am and were afraid to wake up with the results. But like you know, it took 4 more days to get the results. During the days I almost forgot that te elections were there, but when the tv was on or if you were looking on social media... The tension started again. Leah was really nervous about the Elections and you could tell it too. It was interesting to see what the election does to the American people. In the beginning, when the Election started we couldn't see a really big change for Biden but in the end!!! HE WON!!! Saturday morning it finally was happening! Unfortunately I didn't see the parties or people celebrating that much, but I saw video's and it was so cool!
Weekend
It is weekend again!! I really get is excited about my weekends. :) This week wasn't that special, but still nice!
Saturday morning we went to a birthday party from Leah's dad and sister how was their birthday last week and Friday. We celebrate it in the backyard from Leah's other sister. It was nice and fun to see them all again. We talked about the things that happened lately and they also asked me how I enjoyed the US so far. The first time I saw them they asked me what was a thing I really wanted to try. I answered with that I wanted to try a really big cup of coke. My mom asked me to do that, because it is a really good stereotype thing from America to drink out of a really really big cup. I'm here 2 months now and I didn't try it yet. I also didn't saw one yet and didn't knew where you could buy one, but now I know! So soon you will see a picture with my big cola cup!
In the afternoon, when we got back home, Sharon picket me up and we drove to Majo's house where she and Beckie hang out. We hang out there for a little and then left for diner. We went to Popeyes (Yay a new restaurant again and this wasn't the only one). It was nice and we had fun! After we got separated because we both drove to other friends from us to drive to The Field of Screams!! Yes we are going there!!! Sharon and I drove to Amanda and her husband's house and Beckie and Majo drove to Simone's boyfriends house. After a 2 hour drive to Pennsylvania we were at The Field of Screams!! I was so excited and loved it! We had tickets for everything, 3 houses and a hay ride. We started at a house and it was scary, I was the first one and we hold each other hands the hole time and that is how we walked through the house. The actors where allowed to touch you what made it more scarier. The second thing we did was the hay ride, it was relaxed and fun! We sat on a trailer and drove a trail. We stopped at different barns that was decorated in different kind of fears. Some were more scary then others but not really that scary. Every barn also had actors who came to scare you.
The third thing we did was the scariest house they had. It was scary and there were more actors who were there to scare you, especially the exit was scary. I laughed so hard at Sharon, because she was already screaming before something happenend. There were 2 actors with chainsaws waiting for you to chase you. The last house was cool! It was a more outside thing than inside, what I really liked and it was less scary then the others but still scary. We took pictures, did some crazy things and had fun!!
We survived all off them and it was so much fun!! :)
Sunday
Today is the day to go shopping! At 10am I picket up Valerie and we drove to Trader Joe's at first, the to the Lidl and later to the mall! It was so nice to go to a Lidl again and that wasn't the only thing that reminded us from home! When we were at the mall we shopped there and buyer ourself a really good snack: a cinnamon roll at Cinnabon. They were soooo good!! After shopping we drove to IHOP to get some really late lunch/ early diner and eat it at a park near by. It was really nice and typical American. While we were eating at the park a squirrel came up to us and when I reached out to him he came closer and touched my finger!! HE TOUGHED MY FINGER! Omg, I was so happy and it was so special! Every time I see a squirrel I’m still so happy, even when I see 5 of them every day in my street.
After the IHOP experience we drove to IKEA! Yes I told you, a international journey. The two Dutch girls went to Ikea. For a minute it looked like we were in Amersfoort (The Netherlands) again. The Ikea looked the same as back home, even they had the hotdogs for $1! Of course we had to try it. So with a car filled with stuff and a hotdog in our hands we drove back home and had an amazing day!!
I’m already curious and excited for next week and especially for the weekend!
Love,
Naomi
