Sixth week
Hii,
This week we had a real Fall week. We had 3 days we had rain, 2 days it was very sunny and 2 days that it was nice but a little chilly. The weather is great, I love it! Some days it was cold, but I’m still glad that is it not as cold as in The Netherlands, because there is noting but rain.
We did a lot of fun things this week and my weekend was again busy, but in a good way. During the weeks I went to the playgrounds again and also a new one! An Adventure playground. But we didn't went to the playground that much, because the kids started playing with the kids in the street. For Leah it was also a little new that the kids wanted to play with the kids in the street so much, so we talked about the 'rules' together and found out what works best. Also that it is clear for me what she expect from me.
I made some nice things this week! I tried to make protein balls, and it worked out pretty good! I also made pizza buns with the kids for lunch one day. This week I discussed with my host family that I would like to cook ones a week for them. So I can learn better how to cook and I can make some dishes that I like or what I want to try. They were happy with my offer and they would like to try dishes that I always ate at home.
Nights
During the nights I made some plans with my friends and also with some new friends. Wednesday evening I was planning to meet a new girl that also lives in Olney, but she had to work in the evening, so she cancelled me. When I got the text that she has to work in the evening, I was with Sharon. We met each other before our other plans, she was suppose to have diner with 2 girl in Olney so that's why I met here before that. One of the girls she was suppose to have diner with cancelled on here to, she asked if I wanted to join. :) It was so nice of her and I had a fun night! I met Amanda, a friend of Sharon and we had diner at the Green Turtle (a sport bar).
Thursday evening I have met Larissa. Larissa is a German girl from my LCC group. We have seen each other twice and spoke to each other at our 'meeting', but we hadn't a real conversation. We started to plan to do something together and ended up in my backyard under the porch with a heater. It was real fun to meet here better and I hope we can do more stuff together. Also I found out that sitting on the porch with the heather is great! It is so nice to sit outside like that.
Friday night I had a chill night with Leah and Ryan. We went to the grocery store to buy Ben&Jerry's and watched a serie together. :) It was so nice to have that kind of night. Leah was the sweetest with coming up with the idea.
Weekend!
Saturday I had a lazy start of my weekend. The kids had to get there 'flu shots' in the morning. Here they have to get there flu shots every year. Not only the children has to take the shot, but also adults, including me. I have to look when I have to do it en when. When they got back I could take the car to 'The Great Falls'! At first I picket up Karolina, a girl that I have met on the Facebook au pair group. It was a 20 minutes drive from her house to the falls. A funny thing about The Great Falls is, is that on one side of the river is Maryland and on the other side is Virgina! We went to the Virginia side this time, it was so beautiful. We followed some trails down the river and talked a lot. She was very nice and we had a great time. After our hike we went to Chipotle in a mall kinda thing not far from the falls. After that we went home, I stayed home under a blanket, because I was cold and watched a movie.
Sunday was a nice but busy day. The day started with a familyactivity! We went to a pumpkin patch and found some pumpkins for our poch and to carve or paint later. It was a big patch with many pumpkins, we all found one and but them in the cart. There were also some animals, but just a few.
At 12 I went to pick up Valerie to go to Baltimore! In Baltimore we also met a new girl that Valerie had met the day before, Georgie, she is an au pair from South-Africa. We had a really great time in Baltimore, we went to the typical tourist places but als to the local places. Like the harbor, the mall, the cafes. Valerie suppose to live in Baltimore, before she and her host family moved. Georgie had to leave around 5pm, because she had to work. Valerie and I stayed and she showed me around in the area where she lived before and it was beautiful. I really love Baltimore. Baltimore can be really dangerous, so I was happy that I was with Valerie because she knows where to go and where not to go. We had some drinks at a bar and went to a pie store, I had a real American pie for the first time! It was delicious!
I really would like to go to Baltimore more often, I really like the city! I’m really happy that I have met more amazing girls this week and I can't wait to meet them again. :)
This was my week already. Thank you for reading, see ya!!
Love,
Naomi
